It's Memorial Day Weekend!! Which means all the outdoor pools open up...well at least from D.C. north, I'm not sure about the rest of the country. I just got back from my California Adventure and the final half of my trip was spent in Newport Beach so as you can imagine I got in lots of pool time. In honor of this exciting weekend I figured I would share with you some of my pool essentials. Okay, let's break this picture down. The first item I want to highlight are the shoes. These are the most comfortable sandals I have ever worn in my life, and that is not an exaggeration. I literally walked miles in them and had no foot pain or blisters. Even better, I got them from Old Navy and they are currently on sale for $18.00!! I'm buying myself another pair for next summer. I purchased mine in the Dark Cognac, which I highly recommended, they go with everything. I usually wear a US size 7.5 and the 8 fits wonderfully. Your can get them for yourself here. Let's talk about the S'well water bottle. I've been putting off buying one of these because of the price an the amount of color options. I though all my problems had been solved when the Lilly Pulitzer and Starbucks collaboration came out (special item status mandated the price and only four patterns to choose from) but like most of America I walked away from that disaster empty handed. A week before I was suppose to leave for California my water bottle started leaking so I decided to bite the bullet and get a S'well. All I have to say is why did I wait so long?! This thing is magic! Go get your's here! I promise it is well worth the price. Check out some of my favorite color options. The sun hat I picked up at T.J. Maxx for about $13. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate this exact one online. Target, however, has one very similar; check it out here. The final item I would like to highlight is my Lilly Pulitzer UPF 50+ Tunic. This is a life saver! I am mildly allergic to the sun (no joke I sometimes develop hives) so being able to cover up when I am in direct sunlight is extremely important. This piece lets me do that in a fun and stylish way; otherwise I would be running around wearing PFGs in non-PFG appropriate settings (lol). The specific tunic pictured is the Vero tunic in the pattern Exotic Garden. This item is sold out most places but Zappos and The Pink Pelican have limited quantities. You can check out the current Lilly Pulitzer UPF 50+ collection here. And of course, always wear sunblock or sunscreen. My favorite is Baby Blue Lizard. It's on the pricier side of things but it is free of all those chemicals that can also cause me to break out in hives and really gets the job done when it come to sun protection. Plus, the bottle turns pink when it's in UV light! Pick some up here. I know some of the ingredients on the Inactive label look daunting but trust me they are all a-okay. Reasons why I know this
1. A dermatologist recommend this product to me after I was seen for hives that were the result of an allergic reaction to a different brand 2. I am a scientist who was never good at organic chemistry and I recognize all of these ingredients
